Wayne (Fritz) E. Conrad

DYERSVILLE, IOWA

Wayne (Fritz) E. Conrad, 89, of Dyersville and formerly of North Buena Vista, Iowa, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Stonehill Health Center in Dubuque, Iowa surrounded by the love and support of his family.

A private service will be held to honor the beloved memory of Fritz.

Fritz was born on July 13, 1936, in Dubuque, Iowa, son of Edwin and Margaret (Moreland) Conrad. He married the love of his life, Arlene A. Kircher, on September 13, 1958. They were married for 58 years and made residences in Dyersville, Dubuque and North Buena Vista. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army after serving 2 years.

He loved the outdoors and spent many happy hours hunting and fishing, always returning home with a story to tell and an appetite for a good meal. Fritz took pride in his collection of fishing lures, loved spending time on his property in Buenie, and cruising around in his red Corvette.

Survivors include his children: John (Maria) Conrad of Addison, IL and Shelly (John) Rome of Mesa, AZ; grandchildren: Brian (Courtney) Hanson, John (Meli), Nicholas (Fiancé Tori) and Alex Conrad, Maggie (Fiancé Aaron) and Annie Rome; great grandchildren: Cora and Vance Hanson and Cameron Conrad; siblings: Joyce (the late William) Brimeyer.

Fritz was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene in 2016 and granddaughter, Gina Marie Conrad; in-laws: Helen (Robert) Schroeder, Leota Kircher, Mary Frances (Robert) Lewis and Kathleen (Albert “Huck”) Greenwald.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Joyce, Debbie, Patti, and Lynn for their kindness and support. They also extend their sincere thanks to the staff at Stonehill Care Center and Hospice of Dubuque for the compassionate care they provided to Fritz.
