Virginia Meissen

Virginia (Hovey) Meissen, age 79, of Guttenberg, formerly of Waterloo, IA, died Friday, September 2, 2011, at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital. She was born the daughter of William and Nora (Lake) Hovey on February 28, 1932 in Waterloo. On April 9, 1953, Virginia was united in marriage with Joseph Meissen in Lawler Iowa. Together they were blessed with two daughters. For many years, Virginia made a home for her family and tended to her children. In her younger years Virginia enjoyed taking boat rides and relaxing on the sandbars as long as she didnt have to get in the water. Most of her family was her life. There wasnt a thing she wouldnt do for her family and thats a value you couldnt take away from Virginia. Virginia is survived by her husband, Joseph Meissen; two daughter Linda (Jack) Benskin and Cynthia Langenfeld; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren; one brother Robert Hovey and many other friends and family.
