DYERSVILLE, IOWA

Thomas R. Lammers, 84, of Dyersville Iowa, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2026, at his home.

Visitation will be held 3 - 7 on Thursday January 8, 2026, at Kramer-Morris Funeral Home in Dyersville, Iowa where a vigil service will be held at 3:30 p.m. and a legion service will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9:30 - 10:30 am. at the funeral home prior to funeral services.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 9, 2026, at Saint Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville where military honors will be accorded after mass. Burial will be held at a later date at St. Francis Cemetery in Dyersville. Rev. Dan Knipper will officiate.

Tom was born on August 27, 1941, in Dyersville at the family home where he also died. One of the few people in this day who can say they were born and died in the same place. He was the son of Herbert and Armella (Klaus) Lammers. He married Patricia Detloff on October 19, 1963, in Struble, Iowa. Tom graduated from Xavier High School in 1959. He enlisted in the Navy and served 1960-1964 spending some time seeing the world aboard the USS FDRoosevelt. Tom and Pat spent many summers at their cabin in Faribault MN. He was especially proud of their purchase of their Honda trike that they enjoyed riding. Even after his stroke, the decision to sell was preempted by Pat learning to drive so they could keep on riding.

Tom was the proud owner of Tom’s Drive In, Tom’s Tastee Freeze and finally The Fatted Calf. He spent some time working at John deere, and Bradco. He also sold insurance for many years and ended his work career selling homes for All American where he and Pat meet many people who became great friends. He achieved his 4th degree Knight and was extremely proud of this honor. Tom was active in the American Legion having been a member for 47 years and life member where he served as commander of Post 137 Dyersville. Tom was a charter member of the Dyersville Jaycees serving as the 3rd president.

Surviving Tom include his wife of 63 years Patricia; children: Dawn Lammers (Tom Jackson) of Dyersville,

Alana (Joe) Recker Bloomington, WI, Tim (Dona) Lammers of Oelwein, and Terry of Anchorage, Alaska; grandchildren: Ryan Lammers, Nicholette Mausser, Clint Mausser, Derek Lammers, Matt Heathman-Silva, Katelyne Kramer, Tyler Lammers, Monica Domeyer, Nevin Lammers, Armella Wissink, Marissa Lammers, Jordan Lammers and Alexis Lammers; and several great-grandchildren; siblings: Ann Rajtora, Becky Traeger, Dan Lammers, and Steve Lammers.

He was preceded in death by his parents; parents in law; two grandchildren: Holly Domeyer, and Desiree Lammers; sister, Patricia Burroughs; brother in laws: Randy Detloff, Bob Detloff, Dan Degner, and Doug Degner.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
