Per her wishes, a private memorial service with family will be held at the Holy Cross Catholic Church, Holy Cross, IA with burial following in the Holy Cross cemetery. Kramer-Morris Funeral Home in Dyersville, IA is assisting the family.
Sharon was born on February 26, 1941, in Dubuque, IA, daughter of Eldon Theodore and Laura Mae (Zwack) Kintzle. She grew up in Dubuque, IA on W 3rd St in a home that her grandfather and father built. She received her education at Nativity Grade School and St. Joseph’s Academy, which she graduated from in 1959. She loved her early life growing up in Dubuque with both maternal and paternal families nearby and would talk about her wonderful memories of time spent at her maternal Zwack home on Stafford Street. She then attended and graduated from the Dubuque Beauty Academy and worked as a hair stylist at Stampfer’s for a few years and later worked at St. Dominic Villa, both in Dubuque, until her marriage.
Sharon met Jerome William Roling at Melody Mill in Dubuque, IA and they married a few years later on August 28, 1965 at Nativity Catholic Church in Dubuque, IA. They lived in Durango after their marriage for 6 years and then moved to Holy Cross, IA. She did in-home daycare for 15 years while raising their family in a loving home. They shared 32 loving years together before he preceded her in death on October 3, 1997. She moved to Dyersville, IA in 2011 and lived there until moving to Stonehill Care Center this year.
She thoroughly enjoyed reading (romance and true crime), doing jigsaw puzzles, counted cross-stitch, playing bingo, shopping, walking, going out to eat, and was a big fan of Daniel O’Donnell and loved going to his shows in Branson. She LOVED her diet coke with no ice, McDonald’s chocolate milk shakes and anything ‘minty’. She had a sweet tooth, and always had plenty of chocolate and sweets on hand! She loved spending time with her family and cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Steve Schmal of Sherrill, IA, Cheryl (Shawn) Bandy of Dubuque, IA, Terry Roling of Earlville, IA, Sandy (Dale Klostermann) Denlinger of Holy Cross, IA, Karen Roling of Dyersville, IA, and Andrew (Neal Gallegos) Roling of Santa Clara, CA. Grandchildren; Jeremy (Noor) Burkle, Justin (Kayla) Burkle, Molly (Tom) Maigaard, Nicole (Michael) Colson, Kelli (fiancé, Halston Southwick) Denlinger and Lukus Roling.
