Sandy S. Pierce

GUTTENBERG, IOWA

With heavy hearts and endless love, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, Sandy Pierce— a woman whose spirit was as fierce as it was kind, and whose life was a masterclass in loving deeply, laughing often, and living fully. After a life well lived, Sandy passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Tuesday, May 27th, 2025.

Sandy’s journey began on March 9, 1944, she was the proud mother of four children all surviving her — three sons Curt (Stephanie), Paul (Betty), Doug (Julie) and a daughter Christine Garlow (Dave)— and their spouses, whom she embraced as her own. Her legacy continues in the lives of her 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored beyond measure. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick Pierce, parents Eldon and Helen Seeman, her grandson Jeremey Garlow and close personal friend, Linda Friday.

Though she may not have had riches to spare, Sandy gave her family everything that truly mattered. Her children never went without, not just in things, but in love, laughter, and guidance. She was the heart of this family — a woman who made the simplest moments unforgettable.

Sandy was a force of nature. She lived for a good couple hands of Euchre, but, you gotta “put your money on the table honey, cuz we aren’t playing for hugs and smiles.” “Sandy Rule”. Some serious mud boggin’ in her sons’ trucks, much to her husband’s dismay. For such a tiny little thing she had fire flowing through her veins and, in true Sandy fashion, dominating the occasional arm-wrestling match — bringing home a trophy the size of her, always with a grin and a gleam in her eye. She could run a pool table, with utter precision, unapologetically and fiercely, a story of her sinking the 8 ball on the break against her own daughter in league shows no mercy. She was tough when she needed to be, but her greatest strength was her ability to love with her whole heart. Her spirit will echo in every laugh around the Euchre table, every engine revving in the mud, every clink of billiard balls, and every loving, unshakable bond she forged in her time here.

She never met a stranger. Her kindness, thoughtfulness, and infectious warmth left an impression on everyone she met. When Sandy spoke and the stories she told, people leaned in and listened a little more attentively. She never forgot a birthday or anniversary and somehow always knew just the right thing to say or do to make someone feel seen, special, and loved.

To know Sandy was to love her — truly, deeply, and forever.

As we reflect on the beautiful chapters of her life, we hold close the memories, the laughter, and the unshakable bonds she created. This isn’t goodbye forever — it’s goodbye for now.
