Neil Matt

Neil Michael Matt, age 64, of McKinney, Texas, formerly of Garber, died Saturday, May 28, 2011, at St. Pauls Hospital in Dallas, Texas. He was the son of Earl and Ruth (Dinan) Matt, May 1, 1947, in Oelwein, Iowa. Neil graduated from Garnavillo High School, in1965 and received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Iowa State University in 1969. On April 28, 1979, he was united in marriage with Mary Lee Miller in Imlay City, Michigan. Neil was a commodities specialist for Ford Tractor, Ford-New Holland, and Fiat for 39 years. Neil was a devoted Catholic who was very involved with his church. At various times he was a Lector; Eucharistic Minister; Catechist. Most recently he taught 3rd grade religious education; and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Neil was an avid sports fan, especially a New York Yankee fan. He is survived by his wife Mary; one Step-Son, Todd (Pam) Gaster of Frisco, Texas; three step-grandchildren, Tyler, Megan, and Faith: one sister, Jane (Chuck) Siebrecht of Garnavillo; one brother-in-law, Thomas (Joanne) Wilson of Tucson, Arizona; and many relatives and friends.
