DYERSVILLE, IOWA
Mary Jane Heims, 85, of Dyersville, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at MercyOne Hospital in Dubuque, Iowa surrounded by her loving children.
Visitation will be held from 8:30 – 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Kramer-Morris Funeral Home in Dyersville, Iowa. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville, Iowa, with burial to follow at the church cemetery. Rev. David Schatz will officiate.
Mary was born on February 19, 1941, in Temple Hill. Iowa, daughter of Charles and Ruth (Bahl) Peirce. On September 21, 1961, she was united in marriage to Herbert G. Heims at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Temple Hill, IA. The Couple farmed for 25 years in the rural Monticello and Worthington areas.
Mary enjoyed dancing with Herbert and sharing joy with all her family. She cherished her family, children, and grandchildren. She was welcoming to all and loved family celebrations together.
She is survived by her four children: Berna (Lyle) McNamara of Prairieburg, IA, Brian (Mary) Heims of Monticello, IA, Brad (Lisa) Heims of Monticello, IA and Brenda (Brian) Edmonds of Peosta, IA; 14 grandchildren, Dennis and Kyle (Misty Knapp) McNamara, Jesse (Taylor) Heims and Kellie (Brian) Crowley, Ashley (Ben) Diener, Kara and Michael Edmonds, Emilee, Caleb, Elleyna and Annika Heims, Donovon, Kacey, and Josh Kaune; great grandchildren: Alease Knapp, Aleaya McNamara, Colton Heims, and one on the way, and Haylee Crowley; brother, Chancy (Roberta) Pierce of Cedar Rapids; in-laws: Jean Ann Pasker and Steve (Beth) Heims both of Manchester, IA, Rita Heims of Coggan, IA.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert, in 2018; parents; brother, Chuck (Geri) Pierce; in-laws: Elmer Heims, Jerry Pasker; and a godchild, Darrell Heims.
A Memorial fund has been established in Mary Heims honor.
