GUTTENBERG, IOWA
Lorraine “Lori” Carol Geuder, 75, of Guttenberg, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at the University of Iowa Hospital, surrounded by her loving children.
Lori was born on September 17, 1950, in Lancaster, Wisconsin, to Leo and Hazel (Eggers) Koeller. Growing up, she helped bartend at her family’s restaurant, The Copper Kettle. It was there she became friends with Tom Geuder, who introduced her to his brother, Mike. Long story short—they fell in love!
Mike and Lori were married on October 26, 1979, and spent 45 wonderful years together. They enjoyed boating and camping on the Mississippi River, where they would pick their son up after school at the Lock and Dam to join them, playing billiards, Aggravation, yard jarts, and following their kids to countless sporting events. On Saturday nights, you could find them listening to the Kat Cruise, whether it be in their living room while watching their girls dance or venturing to the party itself. Many of these beloved traditions later continued with their grandchildren.
Lori found joy in working with people. She spent many years waitressing at Doug’s Steakhouse, where she made lasting friendships and brightened every customer’s day. Later, she discovered her true passion at Kids Kampus, helping to nurture and teach young children. She will forever be remembered as “Miss Lori” by the many children whose lives she touched.
Lori loved celebrating holidays and always went above and beyond to make them special for her family. She took great pride in her home—decorating for every season and tending to her beautiful flowers. Many local children remember her house for its festive Halloween decorations and her tradition of handing out full cans of pop to trick-or-treaters. But more than anything, Lori’s greatest joy was her grandchildren. She made sure each and every one of them felt loved unconditionally.
Lori is survived by her children: Todd (Laura) Koeller, Holly (Nick) Brown, and Jessie (Dan) Bittner; grandchildren Caleb, Cole, Alyvia, Austen, Seth, Destiny, RuthAnn, and Hali; seven great-grandchildren; and many brother- and sisters-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years, Mike; her parents, Leo and Hazel Koeller; parents-in-law, Don and Jean Geuder; siblings Duane, Carson, Joe, Charlie, Sandy, and Pat; in-laws Tom and Barb; and nephew Rick.
The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Guttenberg Hospital, Dr. Johnson along with his team, and the University of Iowa Hospital for their compassionate care.
Services honoring Lori will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Morris Funeral Home in Guttenberg from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Guttenberg City Cemetery, with Reverend Mike Ashman officiating.
