Lois Ann Bries

DYERSVILLE, IOWA

Lois Ann (Weber) Bries, 85, of Dyersville, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at MercyOne Senior Care in Dyersville, Iowa.

Visitation will be held from 3 – 6 p.m. Friday, August 28, 2026, at Kramer-Morris Funeral Home in Dyersville. Visitation will continue at the funeral home from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. Saturday prior to the funeral mass.

Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 29, 2026, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville, with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Noah Diehm will officiate.

Lois was born September 24, 1940, in Manchester, Iowa, the daughter of Alphonse and Marcella (Langel) Weber. She grew up in Manchester, where she spent her childhood surrounded by family and the community she loved.

Lois married the love of her life, Kenneth John Bries, and together they shared more than 60 years of marriage. Ken preceded her in death in January of 2025. Their marriage was a true partnership and a beautiful example of lasting love. They were each other’s best friends and always seemed to have something to talk about. Even during their many winter trips to Arizona, which they enjoyed together for nearly 20 years, they rarely turned on the radio. They simply enjoyed being together and talking.

Lois was, above all else, a devoted mother. She was a stay-at-home mom for much of her life and would do anything for her children, often at a moment’s notice. Her family was the center of her world. She was a constant worrier—always worrying about her children and grandchildren—but that worry came from a heart that loved deeply. Every night, Lois prayed for her family and for others, faithfully praying the rosary and placing the people she loved in God’s hands.

Lois worked at a grocery store and at an eye doctor’s office before becoming the book manager at her husband’s business, Wholesale Meats Inc. in Dyersville. But her greatest and most cherished role was being a wife, mother, and grandmother.

Lois enjoyed playing cards and games, reading romance novels, watching game shows, line dancing, and Jazzercise. She had a special love for cats and enjoyed traveling with Ken, especially their winters in Arizona. She treasured time with her family and the simple pleasures of being together.

Lois was a woman who loved deeply, worried deeply, prayed deeply, and gave everything she could to the people she loved. Her family always knew they could count on her. Her prayers, her love, and her devotion to her family will remain part of her legacy.

Lois is survived by her children, Pamela (Peter) Durin and Kurt Bries; her daughter-in-law, Dawn Bries; and her grandchildren: Keaton, Noah, Ethan, Naomi, Sierra, Josh, Allysa, Aaron, Lexi, Bella, Wade, Landon, and Cohen; and several extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth John Bries; her sons, Jayme Bries and Gerard Bries.

Lois will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew and loved her. Her life was a gift to those around her, and the love she gave so freely will live on through her children, grandchildren, and generations to come.
