DYERSVILLE, IOWA

Leora G. “Lori” Bonert, 85, of Dyersville passed away Monday, July 13, 2026, at River Bend Retirement Community in Cascade surrounded by family.

Visitation will be held 2 – 7 p.m. Monday, July 20, 2026, at Kramer-Morris Funeral Home in Dyersville, Iowa. Visitation will continue from 9 – 10 a.m. at the funeral home prior to funeral services.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, Iowa with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Noah Diehm will officiate.

Lori was born May 20, 1941, the daughter of Camillus and Viola (Timmer) Meyers. She was born and raised on a farm northwest of Luxemburg. She graduated from Luxemburg school and later worked at Ertls. Lori married Robert “Bob” Bonert on July 11, 1964, at Holy Trinity Church in Luxemburg. She raised two beautiful children, Michael Bonert and Lisa (Bonert) Schwarte. Lori and Bob worked side by side on a farm west of Dyersville.

Lori was a devoted stay at home mother of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was always willing to help anyone. She enjoyed family gatherings where she loved to cook. Some of her favorite things were decorating for Christmas and gardening. Lori was actively involved at the Saint Francis Xavier Basilica. She was a member of the Red Hats and American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Bob, her son Michael (Katie) Bonert of Dyersville, son-in-law Jeff Schwarte of W. Des Moines. Her grandchildren Chelsy Bonert, Anthony (Kaitlin) Bonert of Dyersville, Megan, Alex and Zachary Schwarte of W. Des Moines, Olivia Davidshofer of Dyersville. Great Grandchildren: Tobias “Toby”, Robert, Theodore Bonert and one on the way. Lori’s sisters: Ruth Leick, Rosie Mueller and Monie Katauskas. In-laws: Mary Ann Bonert, Sister Bertha Bonert, Jim (Pat) Bonert and LuAnn (Larry) Willenborg.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Lisa Schwarte in 2023, Her siblings: Grace and (Herbert “Bud”) Kann, Merlin Lieck, Henry Mueller, Anthony Kataukas, Vicky Meyers, Robert, Linda Meyers, and Joe Meyers. In-Laws: Mary Esther Bonert (in infancy), Bill Bonert and Paul Bonert.

The family would like to thank the staff at River Bend Retirement Community and Care Initiatives (Trisha, Angie & Paige) of Manchester for all their support and care for Lori.
