DELHI, IOWA
Lamont A. Davidson, 70, of Delhi, passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois. A private family service will be held.
A celebration of Lamont’s life will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at the American Legion Hall in Delhi, Iowa.
Lamont was born on September 25, 1955, the son of William and Verna Mae (Dobyns) Davidson. He grew up in Walcott, Iowa, where he developed an early love for working with his hands and understanding how things worked. One of his first passions was repairing motorcycles, an interest that reflected the mechanical curiosity and problem-solving ability that would remain with him throughout his life.
He married Wanda Sailing in 1975.
At the age of 31, Lamont turned another of his interests into a career when he started his own CB radio business in Walcott. What began as a small business grew over the years and continues operating today, a lasting reflection of the knowledge, determination, and hard work he devoted to it.
Radio was more than a profession for Lamont; it was also a lifelong passion. He was an avid amateur radio operator and achieved the highest level of amateur radio licensing, the Amateur Extra Class license. He enjoyed the technical side of radio as much as the opportunity it gave him to communicate and connect with people.
Lamont was also deeply involved in the Lake Delhi community. He was a member of the Lake Delhi Recreation Association and served as a trustee during the restoration of the Lake Delhi dam following its breach. He also served as a member of the Delaware County Board of Health. He cared deeply about the community he called home and was willing to give his time and experience to help make it better.
He was blessed with a good church family at Cornerstone Church in Manchester, Iowa.
Away from work and community service, Lamont loved adventure. He enjoyed off-roading, taking road trips, exploring the country, and discovering new places along the way. He especially enjoyed spending time in the Florida Keys, a place that became one of his favorite destinations. Above all, Lamont valued his family, the friendships he made throughout his life, and the many people he came to know through his business, radio, travels, church, and years at Lake Delhi. His curiosity, independence, sense of adventure, and willingness to take on a challenge were constants throughout his life. The business he built, the community he helped serve, and the relationships he formed leave a legacy that will continue well beyond his 70 years.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Davidson; his sons, Jason Davidson and his wife, Kendra Robertson, of Burlington, Iowa, and Cody Davidson of Manchester, Iowa; his granddaughters, Aurora Schwerin, Luella, and Orla; his sisters, Diane Hermann and Cindy Christiansen; and his brother, Kevin Davidson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William "Bill" and Verna Davidson, and his brother, Mark Davidson.
Kramer-Morris Funeral Home (Dyersville, Guttenberg, Garnavillo, Monticello, Holy Cross) is assisting the family and online condolences may be left for the family at www.kramer-morrisfuneralhome.com.
