John A. Wade, 70, of Dyersville, Iowa, formerly of Fort Dodge, Iowa passed away Friday, October 3, 2025, at Finley Hospital in Dubuque, Iowa.

Visitation will be held from 4 - 6 p.m. on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at Kramer-Morris Funeral Home in Dyersville, Iowa.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, in Dyersville, Iowa with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Philip Agyei will officiate with Rev. Gabriel Mensah and Rev. Hung Le concelebrating.

John Alan Wade was born March 3rd, 1955, in Jefferson, Iowa, son of Jack and Louise Wade. He married Janet Sue Barrick on July 9th, 1977, in Blairsburg, Iowa.

John attended Madrid High School, where he developed a lifelong love for golf. He went on to study education at the University of Northern Iowa, where he met his beloved wife, Janet. After graduating, he began his teaching career at Sacred Heart Middle School in Fort Dodge, Iowa. For 26 years, he taught history and geography in the Fort Dodge Catholic Schools and coached multiple sports, including founding the girls’ golf program.

John's greatest passion in life was his faith in God. He deeply loved his family—especially his wife, children, and grandchildren, who brought him immense joy. He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus and a man who never met a stranger. He enjoyed golf, playing cribbage, and laughing and joking with his grandchildren. Known for his generosity and love of music, he passed that musical appreciation on to his children and grandchildren. John lived a remarkable life filled with strength and perseverance. A true medical miracle, he survived five open-heart surgeries, beginning in 1962.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 48 years, Janet Wade of Dyersville; daughters Marci (Charles) Johnson of Jamestown, New York, and Angie (Drew) Anema of Harrisburg, South Dakota; son Michael (Katie) Wade of Dyersville; and his sisters: Paula (Phil) Rush, Wendy (Ray) Ortmann, and Jackie (Dean) Wipperman. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren: Lilly, Matthew, Anna, Elizabeth, Andrew, Victoria, Lilah, and Esher; along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws; a child; and two grandchildren.

John’s family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Tri-State Dialysis Center and the doctors, nurses, and staff at Finley UnityPoint Health, especially Greg who made him laugh, and Becca who offered exceptional care and compassion in his final hours.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family in his memory, to benefit others receiving dialysis.
