Herbert Jasper

DYERSVILLE, IOWA Herbert M. Jasper, 91, of Dyersville, Iowa died Monday, May 6, 2013, at Oak Crest Manor, Dyersville, Iowa. Friends may call from 3 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville where a vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 9, 2013, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Dennis Quint will officiate. Herb was born April 13, 1922, on the home farm in Dyersville, Iowa, the first child of Aloys and Clara (Heiring) Jasper. He attended a country school and worked on the family farm. Herb married Helen Marie Weber on February 14, 1942, in Dyersville, Iowa. This union lasted 49 years until Helen preceded him in death in 1991. Together they farmed east of Dyersville for many years and were blessed with 3 children. While farming, he also worked at Tauke Implement for 29 years. Herb & Helen enjoyed their card clubs and Herb also enjoyed woodworking, making many things in his craft shop. He was a lifetime member of St. Francis Xavier Basilica and an usher there for 40 years. He was also a member of the Dyersville Sportsman Club. Survivors include his children: Judy (Lenny) Klein of Belmont, WI, Robert (Mary) Jasper of Davenport, IA, Richard (Karla) Jasper of Dyersville, 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, a sister, Norma (Jim) Wilhelm of Dyersville, brothers: Mert (Lillian) Jasper of Manchester, Gene Jasper of California, Tom (Joan) Jasper of Dyersville and sisters-in-law, Joyce Jasper, Betty Arthofer, and Jeanette Engler. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Helen, brother, Bill Jasper and sister-in-law, Roseanne Jasper.
