Gracie Torrey

Gracie Mae Torrey, age 87, of Guttenberg, IA, died Saturday, June 25, 2011, at the Guttenberg Care Center. She was born the daughter of Henry and Hulda (Harris) Harbaugh on May 9, 1924 on the family farm near Colesburg. Gracie received her education from the Colesburg School System. On June 14, 1941, she was united in marriage with Harold F. Torrey in Manchester Iowa. Together they were blessed with nine children. Raising nine children was a full time job and on top of that, Gracie also managed to work for Muters in Guttenberg. In her free time, Gracie enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles and spending time with her family. Gracie is survived by her children, Harvey (Karen) Torrey of Guttenberg, Roger (Cheryl) Torrey of Hiawatha, Gary (Dianne) Torrey of Cedar Rapids, Merlin (Judy) Torrey, Janet (Bill) Kruse and Lyle (Marie) Torrey all of Guttenberg, Kevin (Diane) Torrey and Robert (Kathy) Torrey both of Dubuque; twenty one grandchildren; twenty four great grandchildren; sister Letha Walters of Earlville; brother Lyle (Jean) Harbaugh of Tucson AZ; two sisters in law, Mary Harbaugh of Earlville and Kitty Harbaugh of Tucson AZ; one brother in law Cecil Torrey of Guttenberg and many other relative and friends. Gracie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son Steven, one granddaughter, Elaine; two brothers, Leon and Veryl Harbaugh and one sister Olive Jean in infancy.Visitation: Monday 5:00 - 7:00 P.M.
