Eunice Kraus

Eunice Louise (Lundt) Kraus, age 86, of Guttenberg, IA, died Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at the Guttenberg Care Center. She was born on the family farm near Osterdock on January 18, 1930, the daughter of Herbert and Cora (Morarend) Lundt. Eunice was baptized at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Guttenberg and later confirmed there as well. She received her education from the country school which was close to home. On August, 22, 1950, Eunice was united in marriage with Lincoln Kraus at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Guttenberg. Together, they tilled their land and managed a successful farm near Osterdock while raising their children. How she managed to take care of her children while working on the farm and managing her home is a feat many cant fathom, but Eunice never missed a beat. She was certainly a hard working woman and a lady of faith. She was a lifetime member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Guttenberg and served on the Ladies Aid Committee. Eunice was devoted to her husband, family and her faith. She spent countless hours sewing, mending and doing embroidery work. She was famous for her work in the kitchen. Always had baked goods on hand and a cup of coffee to go with it. She was especially known for her homemade bread, cookies, coffee cakes and cinnamon rolls but overall was a wonderful cook and baker, nobody left Eunices home hungry. Eunice will be forever loved and cherished by her children, Thomas (Marcia) Kraus, Karen (John) Anderegg, Curtis (Diane) Kraus, David (Renae) Kraus, Mary (Kevin) Van Houten, Ruth (Leon) Rueter, Paul Kraus & Mark Kraus; 18 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; two sisters in law, Janet Lundt, Ivanelle Kraus and many other relatives and friends. Eunice was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lincoln in 1987; two sons, John in 1976 & Daniel in 1969; one brother, William Lundt in 2010.
