Donald J. Lansing

NEW VIENNA, IOWA

Donald J. Lansing, 82, of New Vienna, Iowa, passed away on July 24, 2026, in the same homeplace where he drew his first breath on December 19, 1943. Known lovingly as Donnie to those closest to him, he lived a quiet life of devotion, and unwavering commitment to family and community.

Visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m. on Sunday July 26, 2026, at Kramer-Morris Funeral Home in Dyersville. Visitation will continue from 8:45-9:45 a.m. on Monday, July 27, 2026, at the funeral home prior to the funeral mass.

Funeral Services for Don will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 27, 2026, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in New Vienna with Fr. David Schatz presiding. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.

Born to John A. and Margaret Lansing in New Vienna, Don grew up on the Lansing family homestead, where he would spend his entire life working the land with pride and purpose. On August 31, 1963, he married Diane Steffen, and together they built a life centered on faith, family, and the farm they cherished. Don and Diane were proud Century Farm owners, carrying forward a legacy of stewardship that spanned generations.

Though Don was a man devoted to the rhythms of agricultural life, he found great joy beyond the fields. He was a fierce and loyal baseball fan who loved watching the Cubs, even though his heart never quite let go of the Brooklyn Dodgers. He relished a good game of euchre with family and friends, but nothing brought him more happiness than cheering on his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren at their various sporting events and activities. He was their most devoted fan.

Don's deep roots in New Vienna extended well beyond his farm. He was a lifetime member of St. Boniface Parish, where he shared his beautiful voice from the choir loft for many years. He always enjoyed participating in community events such as Labor Day picnics, giving generously of his time to the community he loved. His faith was the foundation of his life, and his voice raised in song was a gift he offered in gratitude and praise.

Don is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Diane; his children: Sandy (Tom) Digman of Luxemburg, Chris (Anne) Lansing of Davenport, Michelle (Bill) Maynard of White, GA, Brenda (Dennis) Dorothy of Center Point, Scott (Tracy) Lansing of Blue Grass, Tim (Lisa) Lansing of Springville; his grandchildren: Erin (Doug) Clemen, Brett (Ashley) Digman, Sean and Olivia Lansing, Chris (Britton), Robert (Alyson) and Nick (Rebecca) Maynard, Elizabeth Dorothy, Paige and Brock Lansing, Luke and Jack Lansing; his great-grandchildren: Mason and Aubrey Clemen, Lain and Lenlee Digman, Maggie, Mallory and Maddox Maynard, Evan Maynard, Addie-Grace and Lorelai Maynard; in-laws: Clyde (Hazel) Steffen along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John A. and Margaret Lansing; his siblings: John F. (Lois) Lansing, Lawrence (Rita) Lansing, Lavern Lansing and Anna Mae Lansing; in-laws Gladys (Purl Lake); niece, Karen Sue Lansing, Reynold and Mildred Steffen, Glenn and Keith Steffen.

A special thanks to Hospice of Dubuque, especially Kris, Ava and Jennie.
