Dennis J. Boeckenstedt, 67, of Dyersville, Iowa, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2026, surrounded by his loving family at MercyOne Medical Center in Dyersville.
Visitation will be held from 4 – 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Kramer-Morris Funeral Home in Dyersville, Iowa. Visitation will continue from 9 – 10 a.m. at the funeral home prior to funeral services.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 19, 2026, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in New Vienna with burial in the church cemetery where military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post #137. Rev. Georges Midiangu will officiate.
Dennis was born on August 16, 1958, in Dubuque, Iowa, son of James and Imelda (Haas) Boeckenstedt. He married Lori Osterhaus and to this union three children were born. They would later divorce.
Dennis proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army National Guard for six years. An avid outdoorsman throughout his life, he found great joy in hunting, fishing, playing softball, and spending time in nature. In his later years, neuropathy in his legs limited his mobility, but it never diminished his love for the activities he cherished. From the comfort of his chair, Dennis continued to enjoy the outdoors through memories and stories, while faithfully following the Chicago Cubs, Iowa Hawkeyes, and any sporting events on TV.
Dennis also enjoyed keeping his mind active by working on crossword puzzles and reading books. He was a longtime and dedicated member of the Dyersville Sportsman’s Club, where he shared many friendships and memorable experiences.
Survivors include his children: Jimmy Boeckenstedt of Dyersville, Sarah (Jordan) Kluesner of Bankston, Eric (Megan) Boeckenstedt of North Liberty; grandchildren: Hayden, Oaklynn, and Quinn Kluesner, Brooks and Bentley Boeckenstedt; siblings: Jane Kuhlman, Sue (Mike) Leuchs, Randy Boeckenstedt, Irv (Esther) Boeckenstedt; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother-in-law: Rick Kuhlman.
The family would like to thank the staff at MercyOne Hospital in Dyersville and Bi-County Ambulance Personnel for their care. Also, a thank you to the staff at Kramer-Morris Funeral Home.
