GUTTENBERG, IOWA

Deana. L. Cornwell, 73, of Guttenberg, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at her home.

Deana was born on July 14, 1952, daughter of Fred and Shirley (Schofield) Moore Sr. Deana graduated from Guttenberg High School and held several jobs. She married Steven Cornwell on June 4, 1988. Together, they enjoyed dairy farming and their peaceful property in the valley. She loved her time with friends, family and especially grandchildren. She would garden and take great pride in the work around the property. She had a cherished teapot collection at home that she built up over the years.

Deana was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking, baking, jelly making and canning. Her Christmas trays with homemade candy and cookies will be missed.

She is survived by her husband of 38 years; daughter, LaGina (Charles Cooley) Hoth of Guttenberg; grandchildren: Jarrod Kim, Christie Hoth, Wyatt (Noel Steenhard) Hoth; mother, Shirley Moore; siblings: Lois (Delwin) Henry of Floyd, IA, James (Dorothy) Moore of Mount Vernon, and Leo Moore Schmickle of Toddville; sister-in-law, Margaret Moore of Walker; cousin, Russell Schofield of Strawberry Point; several nieces and nephews, and aunts and uncles.

Deana was preceded in death by her father, Fred Moore Sr.; siblings: Fred Moore Jr., Everett Moore, and Patricia (Delton) Parker.

Gathering will begin at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Ceres Cemetery near Guttenberg, Iowa. Graveside services will follow.
