MONTICELLO, IOWA
Dean A. Kramer, 74, of Monticello, formerly of Sand Springs, Iowa, passed away on his 42nd wedding anniversary, Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at Monticello Nursing and Rehab Center in Monticello, Iowa.
A Celebration of Life in the beloved memory of Dean will be held on Friday, June 19, 2026, from 4 – 8 p.m. at the Monticello Eagle’s Club. A brief prayer service will take place at 5 p.m.
Dean was born on June 30, 1951, in Manchester, Iowa, son of Lawrence and Mildred (Goldsmith) Kramer. He married Vicki Burger on June 9, 1984, in Sand Springs, Iowa. He graduated from Maquoketa Valley High School in the tight-knit class of 1969 and proceeded to start his career in sales. He worked at Central State Foods, Continental Foods, owned and operated Deano’s Lounge, co-owner of Sno-Go with his brother Rick, Life Investors, Jam’s Systems and other sales ventures. His keen focus allowed him to be a successful acting sheriff of Sand Springs for 40 years.
Dean was known for his quick wit, firm handshake, loved dancing at weddings and parties, as well as his love for music such as, “Maggie May and I Am I Said”, Andy Griffith and college football on Saturdays. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and valued taking trips he had won from Life Investors and food sales. The trips included, Acapulco, Mexico, a trip around Europe and several US States.
Survivors include his “Irish twins” Brian (Angela) Kramer of Anamosa and Keri (Jeffery) Fitzpatrick of Monticello; grandchildren: Evan Fitzpatrick and Kellan Kramer; siblings: Dianne Diaz-Miranda, Dale (Wendy) Kramer, Pat (Norma) Kramer, Dan (Shelley) Kramer, Rick Kramer (Denise), Keith (Sherry) Kramer, Mary (Jay) Yanda, Julie Coyle, Sheila (Jim) Tjaden, Lori (Ron) Welter, a sister-in-law, Sue Kramer (Gus Hughes) and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Vicki in 2025, his parents, parents-in-law, Ernie and Anne Burger, a brother, Kevin; in-laws: Mariano Diaz-Miranda, Al Coyle and Lori Miller.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Monticello Nursing and Rehab Center and Megan Hill for their compassionate care of Dean over the past two years.
