DYERSVILLE, IOWA

Deacon Roger J. Riesberg, 78, of Dyersville, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at his home.

Visitation will be held 2 – 7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville, Iowa where parish vigil service will begin at 2 p.m. and military service will begin at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9 – 10 a.m. at Kramer-Morris Funeral Home prior to funeral services.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville with burial at the church cemetery where military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post #137. Rev. David Schatz will officiate with Rev. Dennis Quint concelebrating.

Roger was born May 27, 1947, in Dyersville, Iowa, son of Clarence and Bernice (Boge) Riesberg. Upon graduating from Xavier High School, he enlisted in the United States Navy. Roger returned to Dyersville where he married Jean Termont on March 3, 1973, (she preceded him in death in 2002). He later married Kathy (Lamey) Hoeger on February 5, 2005, in Gilbertville, Iowa.

Roger was a man of faith, devoted to family, country, community and the deep love of the Lord. Ordained as a Deacon in 2013, he carried out his ministries at Spires of Faith Cluster and St. Matthews, Winter Haven, FL. Roger and his wife Jeanne established the first Ace Hardware in Dyersville and then opened the renowned community business of Mr. Lock and Key and the Vacuum Center. Roger didn’t stop there, he was a sports broadcaster for KDST for several years and volunteered in service to his community in many ways. Roger loved the outdoors, camping, woodworking, traveling the world with his wife Kathy, all his family, friends and any adventure he could get into. Roger blessed everyone around him with great love. Life of Deacon Roger Riesberg is one that can’t be expressed in mere words. Roger’s calling was to help make the world a better place each day, God Bless.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy; children: Matthew (Angela) Riesberg of Eldridge, Joseph (Sarah) Riesberg of Carlisle, Edward (Jessica) Riesberg of Morton, IL, Angie (Dan) Leibfried of Urbandale, Rebecca (John) Phipps of Coralville, Abby (Marcus) Helle of Dyersville, Phillip (Cheyanne) Hoeger of Dyersville; 23 grandchildren; siblings: Judy (Roger) Westemeier of Dyersville, Justin “Sarge” (Mary Lynn) Riesberg of Delhi, Clair (Doris) Riesberg of Dyersville; sister-in-law, Donna Riesberg of Dyersville, and numerous relatives of the Termont, Hoeger, and Lamey families.

He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Charles and Bernice Termont and CJ and Lois Lamey; and a brother, Donald Riesberg.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Beckman Catholic High School or American Legion Post #137.

The family extends a thank you to staff at MercyOne Hospital in Dubuque/Dyersville and Hospice of Dubuque for their compassionate care.
