WORTHINGTON, IOWA
David L. Hostert, 76, of Worthington, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Marietta’s Place in Manchester, Iowa.
Visitation will be held from 10 – 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Worthington, Iowa.
Funeral Services will commence at 11 a.m. with burial at the church cemetery where military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post #137. Rev. Hung Le will officiate.
David was born on October 12, 1949, in Dubuque, Iowa, son of Andrew and Irene (Burlage) Hostert. Dave graduated from the first graduating class of Beckman High School in 1967.
Having been drafted into the U.S. Army after high school, Dave served in the Military Police until he was discharged in 1971 as a decorated Vietnam War veteran. After that, he continued farming with his father, Andrew and inherited the Hostert Century Farm after Andrew’s death. Dave was a proud member and choir member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church.
A devoted Iowa Hawkeyes fan, Dave also enjoyed watching Worthington baseball games from his home patio with his friends. Hunting, bowling, golfing, and playing cards with his friends at the Last Straw in Worthington were among Dave’s favorite pastimes.
Dave is survived by his sisters, Mary Jo (Joe) Zaksas, and Judy (Dan) Dolan, both reside in Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made to Care Initiatives Hospice in Manchester, Iowa or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to all the nurses and staff at Marietta’s Place. You took such good care of Dave and made it a happy place for him.
