Darlene F. Olberding

DYERSVILLE, IOWA

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Darlene F. Olberding, 90, of Dyersville, Iowa. A beloved wife, mother and grandmother, who peacefully passed away on Friday, September 5, 2025, at MercyOne Senior Care in Dyersville, Iowa.

Visitation will be held from 8 – 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Kramer-Morris Funeral Home in Dyersville, Iowa. Funeral service will follow at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, in Dyersville, Iowa with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. George Midiangu will officiate.

Darlene was born on November 1, 1934, in Dyersville, Iowa, daughter of Louis and Hilda (Oberbroeckling) Klostermann. She married the love of her life, Donald Olberding on November 23, 1953, in Dyersville, Iowa at St. Francis Xavier Basilica.

Darlene was a loving wife to her husband Donald; they were married for 71 years. She was a proud mother to 6 children, 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren with two on the way. Darlene loved large family gatherings, traditional holidays, working outside with her flowers and baking her famous chocolate chip cookies for her grandchildren. She was devoted to her faith praying the rosary daily and lighting candles for anyone in need for extra prayers. Darlene will be our eternal candle in heaven watching over us.

Darlene and Don were always together, living in their own home for many years in Dyersville until they moved to the Ellen Kennedy Center in September of 2023 and to Senior Care together in July of 2024. They were always seen holding hands. When their whole family would get together Don would say to Darlene with a proud smile, “Look at what we started”.

Survivors include her 6 children: Randy (Julie) Olberding, Kim (Donna) Olberding, Brian (Shellie) Olberding, all of Dyersville, Gloria (Steve) Keppler of Manchester, Sharon Blank and Jane (Lynn) Hennings, both of Cedar Rapids; 16 grandkids: Brent Blank, Jenna (Chris) Johnson, Jill (Tyler) Stenger, Beth Gravel( Fiancé David Trembly), Ben Olberding, Nick (Amanda) Olberding, Kristi (Scott) Fehrenkamp, Kalli (Owen) Brehm, Phil ( Samantha) Keppler, Drew Keppler, Alexandra (Connor) Collins, Allison (Josh) Deggendorf, Carson Hennings, Anna Olberding, Claire Olberding, Luke Olberding; 14 great grandchildren with 2 on the way; siblings: Roger (Lois) Klostermann, Verna Lee Kronlage and a sister-in-law, Marge Olberding.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald in 2024, parents, parents-in-law, Frank and Ceil Olberding; in-laws: Joseph Kronlage, Mercedes (Gilbert) Singsank, Germaine (Joe) Schlichte, Catherine (Jim) Griffin, Gerald (Erma) Olberding, Delbert Olberding, Ray (Gen) Olberding and Bob (Eileen) Olberding.
