GUTTENBERG, IOWA
Catherine D. Moser, 88, of Guttenberg, Iowa passed away Monday, October 20, 2025, at Guttenberg Care Center, Guttenberg, Iowa.
Visitation will be held from 9 – 11 a.m. on Friday, October 24, 2025, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Guttenberg where funeral service will commence at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Guttenberg. Rev. Paul Kwaku-Ameyaw will officiate.
Catherine was born August 21, 1937, in North Buena Vista, daughter of Thomas and Florence (Errthum) Hefel. She married Harold Eugene Moser in August of 1957. Harold passed in October of 1959. She later married Elmer “Blackie” Moser on July 7, 1961, in Chicago, IL. Together, they would raise their nine children and continue working different jobs.
Catherine loved to spend time with her family, especially her children and all the grandchildren. She enjoyed a good game of cards, gambling, or just visiting. And she looked forward to her daily Wheel of Fortune on TV.
Survivors include her children: Virginia (Daryl) Burns, James (Becky) Moser, Mary Jane (Ronald) Aulwes, Anna Mae Moser, Randy (Lora) Moser, Theodore (Michelle) Moser, Ronald (Amy) Moser, Samuel Moser; 23 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren with one on the way, two great-great-grandchildren; siblings: Evelyn (James) McGuire, Norma (John) Latteyer, Daniel (friend, Cindy) Hefel, Robert (Jeanne) Hefel; in-laws: Marge Hefel, Sandy Hefel, Sharon Hefel, and Gene Handke.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Florence Hefel; parents-in-law, Sumner “Sam” and Sadie (Pierce) Moser; husband Elmer “Blackie” Moser in 2000; son, Edward Moser in 1985; siblings: Raymond (Joyce) Hefel, Leonard (Marie) Hefel, Gerald Hefel, Thomas (Geraldine) Hefel, Carly Hefel, Leon Hefel, Lester (Leila) Hefel, Emmet (Darlene) Hefel, Ruth (Pat) Brietbach; in-laws: Andy (Delpha) Moser, Dale (Betty) Niehaus, LaVern (Gisela) Moser, Ella Handke, Jeannine Thiltgen, Donald (Bonnie) Moser, Richard (Hilda) Kalina, Hank (Corrine) Moser, Grace (John) Mann, and Sue Hefel.
The family would like to thank Dianne Thiltgen, and the staff at Guttenberg Municipal Hospital, River Living Center, St. Croix Hospice, Guttenberg Care Center for their compassionate care.
