Friends may call from 4 - 7 p.m., Friday, May 23, 2025, at Kramer-Morris Funeral Home in Monticello, where a parish vigil service will be held at 4 p.m.

On Saturday, May 24, a church visitation will be held an hour before the service. Funeral service will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Monticello at 11 am, with interment at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Father Paul Baldwin will officiate.

Ann Louise was born October 31, 1933, in Kohomo, Indiana. Her parents were Bernell and Clara (Andreesen) Schwirtz. After living in Indiana for several years, they moved back to Anamosa, Iowa, where her parents had lived most of their lives. They missed family and friends. Her dad bought a farm near Springville.

Ann was raised in the Springville/Martelle area. Ann went to Martelle High School, where she was instrumental in starting the first women’s basketball team in which she played on. She graduated from Martelle High School in 1951. She then attended the Iowa State Teacher College in Cedar Falls, Iowa, for two years and earned her teacher certificate. Her first teaching position was in Marion, Iowa. Ann met William “Bill” Aitchison at the Rainbow Supper Club at a dance in June 1955. Ann and Bill married on August 11, 1956, at St. Patrick’s Church in Anamosa, and were married for 54 years until Bill’s passing in April of 2011.

Ann spent the next 20 years raising her six children and helping on the family farm located in Monticello, which became a Century Farm in 2010. Ann and family attended the presentation ceremony at the State Fair. In 1977, for the next seven years, she worked with special needs children and then transitioned to a home health care worker for Jones County Community Health for eleven years until she retired.

Ann’s true passion in life was her family. Ann and Bill were blessed with six children, 18 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. Ann enjoyed family gatherings at her home, reading, genealogy of families, making cherry

cheesecake, chocolate sheet cake, picking strawberries, gardening and yard work. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and attending their events and took pride in all their accomplishments. She loved taking bus trips, touring other states with her sister, Margaret. Ann taught children religion classes and served on several church committees for Sacred Heart Church over the years. Ann and Bill were the 2005 Homecoming Grand Marshalls, in honor of being regular supporters and fans of the student athletes at Monticello High School. Ann will

always be remembered for her love of Christmas, decorating and buying gifts for her children and grandchildren which always had a theme, her Halloween birthday parties, Friday coffee club at the condo which always had good conversations, and her love for watching her favorite sports icons, Iowa’s own Caitlin Clark and the Chief’s Patrick Mahomes.

Surviving are her six children: Lisa (Dave) Lubben, Jeff (Tracey Taylor) Aitchison, Sara (Doug) Tuetken, Jim (Kristi) Aitchison, Joe (Dawn) Aitchison, John (Shelly) Aitchison; 18 grandchildren: Lydia (Neal) Grant, Lael (Joel) Robinson, Clayton Lubben, Andreya Aitchison, Shorey (Phil) Baebenroth, Natalie (Tim) Broderson,

Tessa (Eric Allen) Tuetken, Grace (Kyle) Troutman, Trent Aitchison, Kate Aitchison, Jason (Carmen) Aitchison, Jody (Charlie) Noonan, Jackie Aitchison, Jennie (Tom) Noonan, Morgan (Zach) Garman, Taylor (Nathan) Lee, Jordan (Nicholas) Eastburn, Jaelyn Aitchison; and 33 great-grandchildren.

Ann was preceded in death by her husband, parents; parents-in-law, Clare and Margaret (Buol) Aitchison; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Lyle James, sisters and brothers-in-law, Janie and Louis Freese, Lorraine and Irvin Husmann.

Ann touched the lives of many people and will be dearly missed by all.

The Family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Schwendinger and Staff, Pennington Assisted Living Staff and Above & Beyond Home Health Care and Hospice.
