Ruth Eleanor (Brase) Noack was born March 10, 1929 to Henry & Hilda (Borcherding) Brase in Jefferson Township. She passed away Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at the Guttenberg Care Center. Ruth attended District #9 Rural School north of Osterdock through 8th grade. She was baptized, and confirmed in 1944. She married Woodrow W. Noack on September 30, 1950, at Trinity Lutheran Church. One daughter, Phyllis was born to this union. Ruth was a hired girl before marrying. She lived on the Noack family farm with Woodrow until his death in 1992, moving to Guttenberg. She enjoyed writing personal letters, visiting and helping friends, gardening, flowers, searching family history and old pictures. She was a lifelong member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, and was a member of Ladies Aid for 59 years. She was a co-founding member of the Clayton County Genealogical Society and held various positions, including one of three corresponding secretaries. She and Woodrow were co-founding members of the Northeast Iowa Antique Association Plagman Barn in 1982. She was Historian for Plagman Barn for 20 years. Ruth will be forever remembered by her daughter, Phyllis (Richard) Owings of Garnavillo; one sister, Esther (Allen) Werges of Garnavillo; sister in law-Gertrude Brase of Garnavillo; nieces and nephews, Mark (Corinne) Brase, Terry (Becky) Brase, Brian (Jan) Brase, Craig Brase, Mary (Sheryl) Zittergruen, David (Elayne) Werges and Pam Johanningmeier; numerous great and great great nieces and nephews.
