LaVonne (Geuder) Bahls, age 88, of Garnavillo, IA, died Thursday, March 14, 2013, at the Guttenberg Care Center in Guttenberg, IA. She was born the daughter of Henry and Mary (Putzier) Geuder on May 29, 1924 on the Island in Guttenberg. LaVonne was baptized and confirmed in St. Paul Church in Garnavillo and she also received her education from the Garnavillo School System. On May 25, 1948, LaVonne was united in marriage with Alvin Bahls at St. Paul Church and later were blessed with three children. For much of her life, LaVonne farmed with her husband while keeping a home and raising a family. LaVonne was a hard worker and displayed that skill beside her husband on the farm for several years even after they sold the farm. When Richard went on vacations, LaVonne and Alvin would milk the dairy cows and take care the farm as though they never really left. She was an excellent cook and made the best Christmas sugar cookies. LaVonne was a member of St. Paul Ladies Aid and the Good Neighbor Club when she and Alvin lived in Elkader. She enjoyed reading, gardening, embroidering (especially socks) and many other items which friends and family still use today. LaVonne is survived by her one daughter, Rosemary (Leonard) Ohrt of Garnavillo; two sons, Ronald Bahls of Garnavillo and Richard (Karon) Bahls of Elkader; five grandchildren, Douglas Bahls, Michael Bahls, Gregory (Jessica) Bahls, Steven (Lori) Ohrt and Jill Ohrt; eight great-grandchildren, Zachary Ohrt, Bailey Ohrt, Aiden Bahls, Addisyn Bahls, Chloe Bahls, Cambrie Bahls, and Kirstin Ohrt, Colby Bahls; one sister Darlene Troester and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Robert in infancy and Bill Madden; one sister Luise Heil.Visitation: Saturday 9:30 - 10:30 A.M.
