Glee Kuempel

Glee Palmer (Davis) Kuempel was born the daughter of Glenn and Flora (Palmer) Davis on November 13, 1921 in Janesville Wis. She passed away Friday, May 16, 2008, at the Guttenberg Care Center. Glee received her education from the Janesville High School and graduated in 1938. In 1942, Glee enlisted into the United States Navy where she worked as a radio operator until September 28, 1945, when she was Honorably Discharged. Glee was one of the original members of the WAVES. You could find large posters in stores such as Marshall Fields with Glees picture on it as she was a poster girl for the Navy to encourage women to enlist into the Military. After her service to her country, Glee was united in marriage with Robert "Bob" Kuempel on May 17, 1951 at St. Marys Church in Guttenberg. Together they were blessed with four children. Glee spent many years working as a bookkeeper for her husbands plumbing business as well as other businesses around Guttenberg. Glee was a long time member of St. Marys Catholic Church and she enjoyed golfing, crocheting, baking, cooking and working with wooden crafts. Those left to cherish Glees memory are her three sons, Tim (Kathy) Kuempel of Anita, IA. Pat Kuempel of Guttenberg and Peter (Isabel) Kuempel of Purcellville, Va.; three grandsons, Matthew, Brian and Juan Kuempel; one brother, Edward (Lois) Davis of Guttenberg and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one daughter Susan and one sister June Pierce.Visitation: Monday 5:00 - 8:00 P.M.
