Betty Ruth Stickfort

Betty Ruth Stickfort, age 91, of Garnavillo, IA, died Thursday, October 5, 2017, at the Elkader Care Center. She was born on September 25, 1926 in rural McGregor, the daughter of John and Lucille Frye. Betty received her education locally and graduated from the Garnavillo High School. On January 16, 1945, Betty was united in marriage with Earl E. Stickfort Sr at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garnavillo. Together Earl and Betty tilled the land outside of Garnavillo and were blessed with six children. Betty enjoyed sewing, gardening, picking berries, country music and babysitting for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In her later years, Betty enjoyed traveling and waitressing at various local restaurants. Those left to cherish her memory are her five children, Earl Jr. (Tracy) Stickfort, Connie (Guy) Stumpf, Crystal Kessler, Stuart (Aracelly) Stickfort and Kim Esquibel; 14 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 5 siblings, Gerald (Marilyn) Frye, Iris (Bob) Dohse, Eleanor Soulli, Geraldine (Jim) Sandin, Rolland (Madonna) Frye and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband Earl Sr. in 1986; son Gregory Stickfort; siblings, Frances Kruse, Kenny & Lyle Frye.
