Agnes Schure

Agnes Patricia Schure, age 102, of Guttenberg, IA, died Sunday, March 22, 2015, at the Guttenberg Care Center. She was born on July 31, 1912, in Dickinson North Dakota, the daughter of George and Margaret (Joyce) Hamilton. At the age of 6, Agnes moved with her family to Oelwein, IA, where her mother died of the flu in 1918. Agnes was baptized at the First Christian Church in Oelwein on March 16, 1921. Soon after that she moved to St. Louis MO, with her father, sisters and a brother. Agnes attended school and lived in St. Louis until her marriage to Fred J. Schure in Belvidere, Illinois. They moved to back to Oelwein IA, where Agnes took adult confirmation instruction and was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Oelwein by Pastor Shiffler. In 1958, Fred and Agnes moved to Guttenberg, and transferred her membership from Zion to St. Johns Lutheran in Guttenberg. Agnes attended worship services and the Lords Supper regularly and was active in the various organizations of the church. Agnes also worked for many years at the Guttenberg Meal Site. After church on Sunday, Agnes would drive and she and her widow friends would all go out to eat. Agnes is survived by nieces, nephews and many, many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings, Helen Schmitt, Monica Schneider, Joan Haury, Betty Broeker, Felix Fellhauer, John and Paul Hamilton.Visitation: Wednesday 10:00 - 11:00 A.M.
